The Triangle Yale Book Club, created in 2008, is an open-membership group that meets five times a year to discuss books ranging from fiction to non-fiction to poetry, and to enjoy each others’ company over drinks and hors d’ouevres.  Meetings often include a guest speaker who is usually an author or professor specializing in the subject area of the chosen book.  Speaker meetings are more similar to an informal seminar, but with enthusiastic adult participation.  Recent speakers and books have included Charlotte Sussman (Yale 86, Professor of English, Duke), Persuasion; Jonathan Hess (Yale 87, Professor of Jewish History and Culture, UNC Chapel Hill), Yiddish Policeman’s Union; and John Kessel, N.C. State Professor and author, discussing his award-winning science fiction short stories. The Book Club is commonly called “Yale Plus” as membership is open to family and friends. A small annual dues payment is requested to pay speaker honoraria. Please feel free to join us!

The Book Club meetings are posted on our Events page.
